Instructions
Whisk the eggs in a large bowl, shallow dish, or large baking dish if you want to soak several pieces at once.
Add the whole milk, sugar, and vanilla extract and whisk again until well combined.
Set a skillet (12-inch to 14-inch) over medium heat and add a tablespoon of butter.
While the skillet heats up, soak slices of brioche bread in the egg mixture on both sides.
Allow the excess batter to drip from them, then place them into the hot skillet. Add as many as possible without overlapping them.
Cook for 3 to 4 minutes until golden brown, then flip over and continue cooking for another 3 to 4 minutes until the other side is golden.
Transfer the brioche French toast to a platter and keep warm. If you don’t have a warming tray, place the French toast on a baking sheet and transfer it to a preheated oven at 200 degrees Fahrenheit until ready to serve.
Continue to cook the remaining brioche bread, adding more butter to the skillet when required.
Serve immediately with warmed maple syrup, butter squares, and fresh berries.
Recipe Notes
Toast the bread firstIf you find your bread doesn't hold the egg and milk mixture very well, try slightly toasting the bread before dipping it into the egg and milk mixture. Toasting it first will prevent the outside from becoming too wet and thus hold together nicely.
