What you need:

Finely dice the onion and mince the garlic.

Wash and cut the ends from the green beans.

Wash and slice the mushrooms.

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit (170 degrees Celsius)

Set a large skillet over medium heat and melt the butter.

Add the chopped onions and mushrooms to the hot skillet and cook for several minutes until softened. Add the minced garlic, cook for 2 more minutes, then remove from the heat.

Combine the chopped green beans and chicken broth in a saucepan and bring to a boil. Once boiling, cook for 8 minutes until tender-crisp, then drain the liquid.

Mix the canned soup, the cooked green beans, the Parmesan cheese, and the mushroom mixture in a bowl. Combine well and season with salt and pepper.

Spray a baking dish with cooking spray and spread the green bean mixture evenly in the baking dish.

Bake for 20 minutes in the preheated oven until hot and bubbly.

Remove the casserole from the oven and serve with chopped green onions or crispy onions.

Cooking Tips

If you like your green bean casserole on the thinner side, add an extra ½ cup of chicken broth to the recipe. For a thicker casserole, add an extra ¼ cup of Parmesan cheese.
