🍞 The best copycat Starbucks pumpkin bread

Attempting to replicate your favorite recipe can take multiple attempts and lots of failures to get it just right. In the end, it's better than the Starbucks version in every way.

I can finally take care of my own cravings, save money, and even share this fantastic recipe with friends, family, and coworkers.

The combination of pumpkin spice blend and pumpkin purée is a familiar scent in my household during the fall. I always make tasty pumpkin recipes like pumpkin soup, pumpkin pie, and my kids' favorite pumpkin roll cake with cream cheese.

Pumpkin is just pure comfort food that puts smiles on everyone's face with every bite, and this Starbucks pumpkin bread recipe does exactly that and more!

If you like to include vegetables in your bread recipes to achieve a nice moist results, you should check out my zucchini bread with chocolate chips recipe. Yum!

    🍽 Ingredients Notes

This recipe is really easy, and if you have fresh pumpkin on hand, even better. And if you don't, no worries, canned pumpkin puree works just as well.

Otherwise, you'll likely have everything you need on hand like flour, baking soda, sugar, vanilla, oil, and eggs.

    🔪 How to make

Learn how to make the best Starbucks pumpkin bread with my step-by-step instructions and video walkthrough. Like most pumpkin bread recipes, it takes about 15 minutes to prepare and 60 minutes to bake. It's a simple marriage of combining the wet and dry ingredients, pouring the batter into a greased loaf pan, and baking it.

    Preparation

    • Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit (177 degrees Celsius).
    • Grease a loaf pan with canola oil or baking spray and coat with flour.
    Starbuck's pumpkin bread steps
    1. Whisk the flour, baking soda, pumpkin pie spice, and salt in a medium-sized mixing bowl.
    2. In the larger bowl, combine the sugars, vanilla, vegetable oil, whole egg, and egg whites Whisk the flour, baking soda, pumpkin pie spice, and salt in a medium-sized mixing bowl.
    3. In a large mixing bowl, combine the sugars, vanilla, vegetable oil, whole egg, and egg whites using an electric whisk, then fold in the pumpkin puree until just combined.
    4. Incorporate the wet mixture into the flour mixture bit by bit until it becomes a thick batter.
    5. Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and bake it for an hour in the preheated oven.
    6. Check if the pumpkin bread is perfectly cooked by using a toothpick inserted in the middle of the bread, and if it comes out clean, it is ready.
    7. Remove the Starbucks pumpkin bread from the oven and allow it to cool for around 20 minutes before removing it and letting it cool completely on a wire rack before serving.

    💭 Cooking tips

    • Add toasted pumpkin seeds on top of the pumpkin bread before baking it for a crunchy pumpkin seed topping. You could also use sunflower seeds or chopped walnuts if you prefer.
    • Give your Starbucks pumpkin loaf a Christmas feeling by adding a teaspoon of ground cinnamon and nutmeg to the pumpkin mixture.
    • Do not overwork the pumpkin bread batter when combined the wet ingredients with the dry, as this will cause the bread to become denser rather than light and airy. If the batter has some lumps, it is good.

🙋 Does Starbucks pumpkin bread have gluten?

Yes, unfortunately, Starbucks pumpkin bread contains wheat flour. You can make your own gluten-free pumpkin bread by substituting wheat flour for coconut or almond flour at a 1:1 ratio.

🙋 What can I use if I don't have baking soda?

You should triple the amount of baking powder for baking soda. For reference, if my recipe calls for 1 teaspoon of baking soda, use 3 teaspoons of baking powder as a replacement.

🙋 How do you know when pumpkin bread is done?

I use the toothpick method and insert a dry toothpick into the center of my pumpkin bread. This is the exact method my mother and grandmother used when baking bread, cake, and muffins. When the toothpick comes out clean, your bread is done. Otherwise, bake for another 5 minutes and recheck.

    🥫 Storage

Storing pumpkin bread is easy! Let it cool, and you can store at room temperature, in the fridge, or freeze it.

Room temperature - Wrap it in aluminum foil or a pot towel and store it in a cupboard or a bread bin for up to 4 days.

Fridge - Transfer to an airtight container or wrap it in plastic wrap. The pumpkin bread will last 5 to 6 days in the fridge.

Freezer - For freezing this delicious bread, I recommend wrapping it whole in plastic wrap and transferring it to an airtight container. It will last up to 4 months frozen, and it should be thawed in the fridge.

Made it last night. Love it. Really moist. Fluffy. Not dense as breads with large amounts of flour. Spices are perfect. Thank you!
